Film and Screenplay Competition Rules and Regulations
Awards Announcement Date
The Colorado Film Awards will announce the complete list of 2012 prize winners and award recipients via Internet and on this website August 31, 2012.
The Colorado Film Awards was created as a platform to provide recognition to superior and standout films, screenplays, and artists who demonstrate excellence and originality in their work and crafts. Films will not be screened for the public. Awards will be announced via Internet, targeted press release, email blast, as well as listed on our website. It is requested that awards won be mentioned in the promotional materials of the films being awarded.
Categories of Competition
Narrative Features
Narrative films over 45 minutes. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.
Documentary Features
Documentary Film over 45 minutes. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.
Animated Films
Animated films of any length or genre. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.
Short Films
Short Films are narrative, animated, experimental, music videos or documentary films under 45 minutes. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.
Student Films
Student Films are films of any length or genre written, directed or produced by a currently enrolled student. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.
Colorado Films
Colorado films are films that are made in some capacity by a Colorado resident or films that showcase the diverse aesthetics, subjects, and locations of Colorado.
Screenplay Competition
The competition includes both a feature length and short length Screenplay Competition.
Television
Films and videos produced for television. Films in this category will compete for all awards and prizes.
Entry Deadlines
Early Bird Deadline: November 30, 2011
Deadline: January 31, 2012
Late Deadline: April 30, 2012
Extended Deadline: June 30, 2012
Entry Fees
Feature length films are over 45 minutes.
Feature length screenplays are over 85 pages.

Film Submission Rules
Submission dates listed are postmark deadlines.
All submissions are handled fairly and equally, regardless of which deadline you choose. Late submissions are screened and judged in the same manner as official submissions. However, we encourage you to submit as early as possible.
Please note that we will not view your film until your entry fee payment is received and paid in full.
We accept submissions in DVD and VHS. We also accept submissions in Blu-Ray. If you choose to submit your film in that format, please include a standard DVD disc as backup.
Accepted formats are NTSC, PAL, Region 1 or region free. Please mark clearly on the disc and DVD case if format is not NTSC, Region 1 or region free.
All non-English films are required to have English subtitles.
All submissions must fill out the official entry form application, or submit online by using Withoutabox.com. Once you finish all required fields on the official entry form, please mail it to us making sure to include your submission.

By submitting your film into competition in the Colorado Film Awards you agree that you have read, accept, will abide by all rules and regulations.
Screenplay Competition Rules

Screenplays 45 pages or longer are considered feature length.

The Colorado Film Awards accepts Electronic Screenplay Submissions in .PDF, Word, Final Draft, and Movie Magic formats. Please be sure to also include the completed Official Entry Form in your email. Email Submissions to info@coloradofilmfestival.com.

Once you finish all required fields on the official entry form, please mail it to us making sure to include your submission.
